Since the 2023 NFL Draft is in the books and team OTAs are underway, that means one thing. It’s time to look ahead to the upcoming football season. And one forecast we’re particularly interested in is the NFL MVP odds market.
Yes, we know — the engraving is relatively fresh on the MVP trophy that Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes collected before he led his squad to their second Super Bowl in four years. However, it’s never too early to speculate about how next year’s most valuable player race will unfold.
Before the draft, Bills quarterback Josh Allen was the favorite to win the prestigious award. But his odds lengthened shortly after, with Mahomes taking the top spot for a few weeks. Now, with a little more than two months left before the season kicks off, Allen’s odds of being named next year’s MVP are back to +700.
Allen and Showtime Mahomes are now co-favorites to win MVP, currently sitting at +700.
Will Mr. Half a Billion, who some would argue is underpaid, run it back next season and grab top honors for the third time? Or will his conference rival Allen be triumphant? Or will Super Bowl rival Jalen Hurts snag the coveted trophy?
Let’s dive into the odds for the 2023 NFL MVP (top 10 choices).

If you are looking for some help on which player to throw down some early MVP futures bets, here are insights from our FOX Sports NFL Analyst Geoff Schwartz:
Joe Burrow (+700) — Cincinnati Bengals
Burrow has everything you’d want in an MVP favorite.
Not only is he a fantastic quarterback, but he competes with a flare and passion that grabs the eyeballs of MVP voters. We saw this happen in 2021 when Burrow — instead of Dak Prescott — won Comeback Player of the Year.
The Bengals’ QB consistently posts accuracy numbers that are some of the league’s best. And Cincy has improved at the offensive line position and arguably has the best wide receiver room in the NFL. Last year, the Bengals changed their offense to feature plays and schemes that work best for Burrow, so I expect their offense to be slightly better this season.
The Bengals have a chance to be the top seed in the AFC, bolstering the chances for Burrow to win this award.
PICK: Joe Burrow (+700) to win NFL MVP

Jalen Hurts (+1200) — Philadelphia Eagles
Hurts was the leader for the MVP award last season before injuring his shoulder late. He was outstanding in 2022, throwing for 3,701 yards while rushing for another 760 yards in just 15 starts. Hurts also had 37 total touchdowns and was the focal point of the high-powered Eagles offense.
Philly’s offense returns nearly everyone from its NFC championship roster, including the best offensive line in football. Even though the team has a new offensive coordinator after Shane Steichen’s departure to Indianapolis, I still expect the Eagles offense to keep the train rolling.
Hurts’ ability to create plays and generate MVP-caliber highlights will capture voters’ attention. And the Eagles are on track to return to the Super Bowl in 2023, which will also help his candidacy.
At 12-1 odds, this bet is definitely worth a sprinkle.
