Canada vs. Ireland live updates: Tied up 1-1 at the half

The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup continues Wednesday (on FS1 and the FOX Sports app) with a matchup between Group B’s Canada and Ireland at HBF Park in Australia.

The highlight of the match came quickly in minute four when Katie McCabe hit an Olimpico to send Ireland up 1-0.

Canada’s attempts to get on the board were unsuccessful until first half stoppage time when Julia Grosso sent a fast ball straight at Ireland’s net, causing an own goal and tying the match 1-1.

Canada is the No. 7 ranked team in the world, according to FIFA, while Ireland is ranked No. 22.

Canada tied its opener against Nigeria by a score of 0-0, and Ireland is trying to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Australia.

Canada tied it up in the fifth minute of stoppage time off a powerful shot from Julia Grosso which resulted in an own goal.

Jordyn Huitema tried to get Canada on the board, but Ireland goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan was too quick with the save.

For her first-ever FIFA Women’s World Cup goal, Katie McCabe drilled a corner kick into the net to send Ireland up 1-0.
