The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup was in full swing Saturday (on FOX and the FOX Sports app), as France faced Brazil in a must-see Group F matchup at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia.
France pulled ahead early in the game, but Brazil managed to equalize in the second half, making for a tense match. In the end, France mustered some late-game heroics to put Brazil to rest 2-1 in an exciting, back-and-forth affair.
France leapfrogs Brazil in the standings to take over first in Group F, giving themselves a better chance to qualify for the knockout stage, while Brazil has some ground to make up.

French legend Wendie Renard charged in for a beautiful header off a corner kick to retake the lead for France. The French captain’s goal helped her team to a crucial group-stage victory.

Brazil allowed France a chance to strike near the goal line but was able to deflect the shot from going in.

Brazil fought fiercely to get back into the game, and Debinha capitalized for Brazil with a beautiful first touch and volley straight to the back of the net, tying up the game at 1-1.

Brazil’s Debinha set up an open shot for Adriana in the box, but she blasted it wide, squandering Brazil’s best attempt of the match so far.

Eugénie Le Sommer knocked in a header off of a headed assist from Kadidiatou Diani to put France up 1-0 early.
