Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles (2-0) kicked off Week 2 of the 2023 NFL season, taking down the Minnesota Vikings (0-2) at Lincoln Financial Field. Running back D’Andre Swift led the way for the Eagles with 175 rushing yards and one touchdown.

Philly was coming off a narrow win over New England in Week 1, while Minnesota was aiming to secure its first win of the season after a slim loss to Tampa Bay in its season opener.

The Eagles and the Vikings checked in at second and 17th, respectively, in our latest NFL power rankings.

Here are the top moments!

FINAL: Philadelphia Eagles 34, Minnesota Vikings 28

Jump for it

Two plays after picking up a first down with his legs, Hurts threw a deep ball for wide receiver DeVonta Smith, who leaped and reached over a defender to haul in the 54-yard reception. The Eagles were held to a field goal, though.

Redo

Minnesota punted and then forced Philadelphia to go three-and-out. Then Brandon Powell ran the punt back deep into Eagles territory for the Vikings before fumbling; Nicholas Morrow recovered the loose ball for the Eagles at their own 27-yard line.

Hurts picked off

Philadelphia got the ball into Minnesota territory after recovering the loose ball, but Hurts was later intercepted by Vikings safety Theo Jackson.

ANOTHER turnover!

On the first play that Minnesota ran off the interception, running back Alexander Mattison had the ball knocked out of his possession going to the ground by Avonte Maddox, and Justin Evans recovered the loose ball for Philadelphia. With that said, the Eagles couldn’t pick up a first down after the turnover, and Jake Elliott missed a 55-yard field goal.

Vikings strike

Three plays after Cousins hit tight end T.J. Hockenson over the middle for a 24-yard completion to move the chains on third down, the duo hooked up for a 5-yard touchdown, giving the Vikings the lead.

Running it all the way

The Eagles put together a 16-play touchdown drive that saw them run the ball 13 times, including eight times with Swift, before Hurts snuck in the goal-line score.

BRUTAL!

Cousins hit Justin Jefferson on a deep ball near the goal line, but when the star wideout tried to break the plane, he fumbled the ball over the pylon and out of bounds for a touchback.

What a kick!

Philadelphia got into Minnesota territory after the Jefferson fumble, and Elliott drained a 61-yard field goal just before halftime.

HALFTIME: Eagles lead 13-7

The Eagles maintained possession of the ball at a roughly 2:1 ratio in the first half and led 13-7. While he fumbled going into the end zone late in the first half for the Vikings, Jefferson reached 5,000 career receiving yards, tying Hall of Famer Lance Alworth for the fewest games needed to reach the mark (52).

Eagles D makes a play

On the second play of the second half, Josh Sweat strip-sacked Cousins, and Fletcher Cox picked up the loose ball for the Eagles. Two plays later, Hurts snuck in another goal-line score.

Go long!

After forcing a Minnesota three-and-out, Philadelphia put more points on the board. Faced with a third down, Smith had a step on his defender, and Hurts — who took a shot in the backfield — hit the receiver in stride for a 63-yard touchdown. The Eagles led 27-7.

Vikings get it back

On the fifth play of the ensuing drive, Cousins stepped up in the pocket and threw a deep ball to wide receiver Jordan Addison, who spun out of a tackle after corralling the pass and went into the end zone for the 62-yard score.

Danielle Hunter stepping up

The Vikings linebacker pulled off back-to-back sacks on Hurts, taking the Eagles out of field-goal range and forcing them to punt.

Vikings ripping it

After forcing Philadelphia to punt, Minnesota cut the lead to one score on its next possession. Jefferson came down with a trio of receptions that combined for 59 yards on the drive before Cousins found a wide-open K.J. Osborn in the back of the end zone for a 10-yard touchdown.

Swiftly down the field

The Eagles moved the ball on their next drive and were able to put another score on the board. Two plays after Swift took off for a 43-yard gain on the ground, the running back punched in a 2-yard touchdown.

Vikings fight to the end

Cousins & Co. came down the field and got back to within one score when the quarterback hit Hockenson for a 5-yard score, but the Vikings ultimately lost to the Eagles, 34-28.
