Marcel Louis-Jacques joined ESPN in 2019 as a beat reporter covering the Buffalo Bills, before switching to the Miami Dolphins in 2021. The former Carolina Panthers beat writer for the Charlotte Observer won the APSE award for breaking news and the South Carolina Press Association award for enterprise writing in 2018.

MIAMI — The Dolphins have signed linebackers Justin Houston and Bruce Irvin to their active roster, it was announced Tuesday.

Outside linebacker has become a position of need for the Dolphins, with Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb and Andrew Van Ginkel having suffered season-ending injuries since Week 12.

Houston, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, has 112 career sacks and has still proved to be productive late in his career. The 34-year-old has recorded at least eight sacks in five of his past seven seasons. He had 0.5 sacks this season in seven games with the Carolina Panthers.

Irvin played two games for the Detroit Lions this season, recording a sack. The 36-year-old has 56.5 career sacks in 12 NFL seasons.

They will join a pass-rush rotation that includes Melvin Ingram and Emmanuel Ogbah.

A source also confirmed to ESPN that Miami is signing linebacker Malik Reed to its practice squad.

The Dolphins have lost back-to-back games for the first time this season as they prepare for an AFC wild-card matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Coach Mike McDaniel said the team will also be without starting middle linebacker Jerome Baker, who underwent wrist surgery Monday, as well as cornerback Xavien Howard, who injured his foot in Week 17.

Baker, Van Ginkel and Cameron Goode were all placed on injured reserve Tuesday.

Reed spent the offseason with the Dolphins but was cut prior to the start of the season. He played under current Dolphins defensive coordinator Vic Fangio while both were members of the Denver Broncos from 2019 to 2021.
