KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The injured person in an alleged May 6 assault at a Dallas nightclub in which Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is reportedly a suspect has asked police not to file charges, according to Dallas police.

Asked by email about the status of the investigation, Dallas police responded by saying, “The reporting party has signed an affidavit of non-prosecution. The investigation is ongoing.”

Dallas police have said that officers responded to a report of an assault at a Dallas nightclub around 2:30 a.m. on May 6. Charges have not been filed in the case. The Dallas Morning News reported that Rice is a suspect.

A man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, including swelling on one side of his face, the Morning News reported.

Rice is working with the Chiefs this week as they begin their offseason practices. He was arrested last month for his involvement in a March 30 six-car crash in Dallas that left at least seven people injured.

Police said Rice was traveling at 119 mph shortly before the crash. He is facing one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury, according to police.
