Browns RB Nick Chubb suffered broken foot in loss vs. Chiefs

Nick Chubb broke his left foot in the Cleveland Browns‘ 21-7 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski didn’t provide a timetable when he announced the injury, but with just three weeks remaining in the 2024 regular season, it’s likely that Chubb’s season is over.

“I’ve gotten to have a first-row seat to what he’s been able to do. I can’t tell you how much I respect him as a person, what he means to this football team,” Stefanski said. “So, really, really disappointed about this injury. It does not change the fact that he continues to inspire this football team with how he approaches every single day. I know this is another obstacle he will overcome.”

Chubb’s latest injury came after he suffered a gruesome left knee injury that ended his 2023 season after two games, tearing his MCL and damaging his ACL. The injury caused Chubb to miss the start of the 2024 season as well, making his return in Week 7.

The seven-year veteran has had some trouble regaining the running ability that made him one of the game’s best running backs. Entering Sunday’s game, he had rushed for 291 yards on just 3.1 yards per carry and three touchdowns. He rushed for 41 yards on nine carries in Sunday’s game, losing a fumble on the first play from scrimmage in the second half that helped the Chiefs take a 21-0 lead.

With Chubb’s injury, Jerome Ford will likely resume his duties as the Browns’ lead running back. Ford rushed for 84 yards on seven carries and a touchdown in Sunday’s game. He had 367 yards on 4.6 yards per carry entering Week 15.
