Here is what to know about the SEC title oddsboard:
The Favorite: Before the season kicked off, the Tide were third on the oddsboard at +380 to win the conference. Now, they’ve risen to the top spot with their 5-1 record seven weeks into the season. Over the last three weeks, Bama has taken down opponents who were ranked in the top 20. That list includes Georgia, Vandy and Missouri. In addition to being 5-1 straight up (SU), the Tide are 4-1-1 against the spread (ATS). Much of Alabama’s success can be attributed to starting quarterback Ty Simpson. He’s surged to +370 on the Heisman oddsboard, sitting second behind only Miami’s Carson Beck. Alabama leads the conference with the most SEC titles, nine of which were won under coach Nick Saban. In the last 11 years, Bama has claimed seven titles, with its most recent victory in 2023 — a narrow 27-24 win over Georgia.
The Usurper: Texas A&M started off the season sitting at +1500 to win the conference and now the Aggies have ascended to the second spot on this list. The Aggies are 6-0 SU, and one of their most notable victories was their 41-40 win over Notre Dame. Against the spread, however, A&M is 3-3. Like Bama, the Aggies’ starting QB is in the Heisman conversation. Marcel Reed is +2000 in that market, and if he can help lead the team to big wins over ranked squads like Missouri and LSU, bettors might want to keep an eye on that spot, too.
Horns Down?: Before the 2025 season began, sportsbooks favored Texas at +270 — led by star quarterback Arch Manning — to claim the conference title. But the Longhorns dropped their Week 1 game to Ohio State and then got upset by the Gators. The loss to Florida caused Texas to topple out of the Top 25, but a Week 7, Red River Rivalry win over Oklahoma moved the Horns up to No. 21. Their odds to win the SEC have lengthened to +1000, but with half of the season left, the Longhorns could climb back up to where they started.
