Here is what to know about the Super Bowl oddsboard:
The Favorite: The top spot belongs to a single team: the L.A. Rams. They are 9-2, and they have two losses on the year by a combined 10 points. L.A. has also won six in a row, including wire-to-wire wins over Jacksonville in Week 7, New Orleans in Week 9 (they had a bye in Week 8), San Francisco in Week 10, Seattle in Week 11 and Tampa Bay in Week 12. In fact, the Rams haven’t trailed since the first quarter of a 17-3 win over Baltimore in Week 6. The Ravens led that game 3-0. Since then, the Rams have not been behind on the scoreboard in five straight victories. Best team in the league much?
Ones to Watch: The biggest losers of the week? There are a few of them. On Thanksgiving Day, three thought-to-be contenders — the Lions, Chiefs and Ravens — all took meaningful Ls. Detroit fell at home to division rival Green Bay, dropping to 7-5 on the season and watching their title odds move from +1200 to +2500. The Chiefs are once again at .500 (6-6) after losing to the Cowboys on the road. With the loss, their title odds moved from +950 to +1600. Then to close the holiday, the Ravens (6-6) lost at home to the Bengals and fell out of first place in the AFC North. Baltimore’s Super Bowl odds went from +1200 to +1900.
The Defending Champs: The Eagles had won four in a row, but were upset by the rival Cowboys 24-21 in Week 12. Making things worse is the fact that Philly led 21-0 in the second quarter and never scored again. Still, the Eagles have wins over the Chiefs, Rams, Buccaneers, Packers and Lions this year. Does any other team have that many quality wins? The Eagles have a chance to get another quality W on Friday night, when they host 8-3 Chicago. Philly remains on the right track when it comes to winning a second consecutive Super Bowl, but of course, it will be far from simple. When it comes to winning the Big Game in consecutive years, other than the Chiefs going back-to-back in 2022 and 2023, winning two in a row is a feat seldom accomplished in the Super Bowl era. New England won the Super Bowl in 2003 and 2004. Before that, the Broncos won in 1997 and 1998, and the Cowboys won in 1993 and 1994. The Niners went back-to-back in 1988 and 1989; the Steelers won in 1974 and 1975, and then again in 1978 and 1979. The Dolphins won in 1972 and 1973, and the Packers won in 1966 and 1967.
