Here is what to know about the Super Bowl oddsboard:
The Favorites: A week after the world proclaimed the Chiefs back to championship form, it’s now the Bills turn to receive praise. Buffalo didn’t dominate, but certainly handled Kansas City on Sunday night at Highmark Stadium, leading 28-13 in the third quarter before emerging with a 28-21 win. With the win, the Bills reclaimed a tie for the top spot on the Super Bowl oddsboard (they were fourth last week at +800) and they have wins over both the Ravens and Chiefs on the season.
Ones to Watch: There are actually a few to watch after Week 9, for both better and worse. A home loss to the Vikings moved Detroit from second on the board last week (+650) to fourth (+900). The Packers were also upset by Carolina, and went from third at +700 to fifth at +950. The Colts lost to Pittsburgh, moving from fifth at +900 to seventh at +1100, and the Commanders, with a loss to Seattle and the loss of Jayden Daniels due to injury, moved from +10000 last week to +50000 this week, before settling at +30000. Moving up the board were the Rams (+950 to +800), the Broncos (+2000 to +1500) and the Seahawks (+2500 to +1200).
The Defending Champs: The Eagles had a bye in Week 9. They are 6-2 straight up (SU) and 5-3 against the spread (ATS), and they’re sitting on back-to-back victories. When it comes to winning the Big Game in consecutive years, other than the Chiefs going back-to-back in 2022 and 2023, winning two in a row is a feat seldom accomplished in the Super Bowl era. New England won the Super Bowl in 2003 and 2004. Before that, the Broncos won in 1997 and 1998, and the Cowboys won in 1993 and 1994. The Niners went back-to-back in 1988 and 1989; the Steelers won in 1974 and 1975, and then again in 1978 and 1979. The Dolphins won in 1972 and 1973, and the Packers won in 1966 and 1967.
