The New Orleans Saints signed Derek Carr to a four-year, $150 million deal. $70 million is effectively fully guaranteed and $60 million was due at signing, with another $10 million in Year 3 vesting after Year 1. Shortly after Carr’s big splash, the Seattle Seahawks and Geno Smith agreed to a three-year, $105 million extension with $52 million in the first year. With both teams needing an answer at QB, which move was more riskier? Watch as Nick Wright explains why the Saints did not make the best move paying Carr lots of guaranteed money with the team at about $40-50 million over the cap despite playing in the NFC South. He then explains why he does not mind Geno’s deal with Seattle.
