Losing in Week 1, and then again in Week 2, would be nothing short of a lost season for most NFL franchises.
But Kansas City isn’t most franchises.
Still, at 5-5, the Chiefs aren’t exactly … looking like themselves.

Kansas City, despite sitting at .500 after 10 games, and despite sitting third in the AFC West, is still favored to make it to the postseason.
If the playoffs started today, the Chiefs wouldn’t be in. And although they have five losses to teams that would be in the playoffs if they started today, what’s arguably more telling is that K.C. doesn’t have a single win over a current postseason team.
Furthermore, the Chiefs have just one win against a team that is currently above .500: the 6-4 Detroit Lions.
Considering that, things don’t really get easier for the Chiefs moving forward. They still have matchups left against the Colts, Texans, Chargers and Broncos.
If Kansas City did miss the postseason this year, it would be the first time in forever. The last time it missed postseason play was way back in 2014, and from 2018 to 2024 (seven seasons), Kansas City has at least one playoff win.
In the last six years, the Chiefs have won at least two playoff games, and they’ve made it to the Super Bowl in five of the last six seasons, winning three titles in that span.
