A half of defense
Both teams had trouble moving the ball on offense because both defenses were on point, making big plays. First, the Maulers’ Arnold Tarpley III intercepted a pass, setting Pitt up in New Jersey’s territory.
On the ensuing Maulers offensive possession, a bad snap to Chris Blewitt resulted in the Generals regaining possession of the ball in Pittsburgh’s territory.
After a pair of field goals by both squads before the half, including this impressive 52-yard kick from Blewitt, the Maulers led the Generals 9-6 at halftime.
Pittsburgh’s offense capitalizes on defense!
As mentioned, this matchup was full of defensive stops. Midway through the third quarter, Eli Walker returned a fumble 46 yards for a touchdown, putting Pitt up 16-6.
