The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup continued Sunday (on FOX and the FOX Sports app) with Germany facing Colombia at Sydney Football Stadium in Australia in an all-important Group H matchup.

Colombia led by a goal for most of the game until a critical foul gave Germany a penalty kick and the chance to tie the score up at 1-1. Young Colombian star Linda Caicedo showed great skill in this match, and Manuela Vanegas will be renowned as a hero for her clutch final goal in stoppage time. The Colombian squad showed true grit by fighting to end, and it paid off when it pulled ahead on the final play of the game off a set piece to take the win.

Colombian defender Manuela Vanegas came up field on a corner kick in the dying seconds of the game to connect on a gorgeous header in stoppage time to give Las Cafeteras the upset victory!

Lena Oberdorf drew a critical penalty by Colombian goalkeeper Perez, and Popp capitalized on the golden opportunity to even the score in the final minutes.

Caicedo almost notched another goal when a cross beelined right across the open net, but she couldn’t get a foot on it.

Linda Caicedo needed just a few perfectly controlled touches to set up her shot, which soared into the back of the net to put Colombia in front.

Alexandra Popp received the ball at the back post, but she couldn’t get the shot on frame. The half ended with no points on the board.

Colombian goalie Catalina Pérez continued to be a brick wall in fending off Germany’s attack.
