Australia continued its 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup campaign with its final Group B match against Canada at Melbourne Rectangular Stadium in Melbourne on Monday (on FS1 and the FOX Sports app).
Both teams entered with a chance to advance out of Group B, with Australia needing a win to continue its home campaign. The Australians accomplished just that and came through with an impressive 4-0 win that saw them in control for the entirety of the match.
Hayley Raso scored the first goal for Australia and then delivered her second almost immediately after a goal for her squad was called back after a VAR review. Australia would later add two second-half goals, including a penalty in stoppage time, which was enough to propel the home team into the next round and keep its dream alive.
